TUJUAN PEMBELAJARAN

1. Murid dapat memahami alur informasi, informasi tersurat dan tersirat dari teks naratif fantasy (tertulis/multimodal) yang disajikan sebagai bahan asesmen sumatif Bab 3.
2. Murid dapat mengomunikasikan gagasan tentang dunia fantasy secara tertulis dalam bentuk teks naratif singkat dengan struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan yang tepat sebagai bukti capaian belajar Bab 3.

PETUNJUK UMUM

• Bacalah setiap petunjuk kegiatan dengan saksama sebelum mulai mengerjakan.
• Kerjakan secara mandiri kecuali ada instruksi khusus untuk berdiskusi.
• Gunakan bahasa Inggris dalam setiap jawaban tertulis.
• Tulis jawaban dengan rapi pada ruang yang disediakan.
• Manajemen waktu: perhatikan estimasi waktu di setiap kegiatan agar seluruh soal dapat diselesaikan.

Kegiatan 1: Reading Comprehension: The Enchanted Forest

Petunjuk Pengerjaan:

1. Baca teks naratif fantasy berjudul 'The Enchanted Forest' berikut ini dengan cermat.
2. Identifikasi tokoh utama, latar (setting), masalah (complication), dan penyelesaian (resolution).
3. Jawab semua pertanyaan yang mengikuti teks tersebut.

Pertanyaan:

1. Read the following text carefully.

The Enchanted Forest

One evening, a young girl named Kira found a glowing portal behind the old banyan tree in her grandmother's garden. Curious, she stepped through it and found herself in an enchanted forest where the trees could speak and the rivers flowed with silver water.

"Welcome, young traveller," said the oldest oak tree. "You have been chosen to help us. The Shadow King has stolen our Crystal of Light, and without it, our forest will turn to stone by sunrise."

Kira was frightened, but she remembered her grandmother's words: "Courage is not the absence of fear; it is acting despite it." She agreed to help.

The oak tree gave her a map made of leaves and told her to follow the silver river upstream. Along the way, she met a talking fox named Reno who offered to guide her. Together, they crossed the Bridge of Whispers and climbed the Mountain of Echoes.

At the top, they found the Shadow King's castle. Reno distracted the king's guards while Kira sneaked inside. She found the Crystal of Light locked in a glass cage. Using a riddle the oak tree had taught her, she unlocked the cage and grabbed the crystal.

As soon as Kira held the crystal, the castle crumbled and the Shadow King vanished into smoke. She ran back to the forest and returned the crystal to the oak tree. The forest glowed brightly again.

"Thank you, brave one," said the oak tree. "You may return home now, but remember — courage lives inside you always."

Kira stepped back through the portal and found herself in her grandmother's garden, just as the sun was setting.

Based on the text, who is the main character and what is her mission?

2. What is the complication (problem) in the story? Explain in 1-2 sentences.

4. The oak tree said, "Courage lives inside you always." What is the implicit (tersirat) message of this statement? Explain in your own words.

5. What can you infer about Kira's character based on her actions in the story? Give one piece of evidence from the text to support your answer.

3. Jawab pertanyaan berikut untuk menunjukkan pemahamanmu tentang struktur dan unsur kebahasaan teks naratif fantasy.

Pertanyaan:

1. Find five verbs in the past tense from the text and write them in the table below along with their base form.

2. Identify the generic structure of the text 'The Enchanted Forest'. Match each part of the story with the correct label: Orientation, Complication, Resolution, and Coda/Reorientation.

3. Find one example of direct speech in the text. Then rewrite it as indirect (reported) speech.

4. Why does the author use past tense throughout the story? Explain the connection between past tense and narrative text in 1-2 sentences.

Kegiatan 3: Creative Writing: My Own Fantasy Adventure

Petunjuk Pengerjaan:

1. Kini saatnya kamu menulis cerita fantasy-mu sendiri!
2. Tulis sebuah teks naratif singkat (8-12 kalimat) tentang petualangan di dunia fantasy.
3. Gunakan struktur teks naratif: Orientation – Complication – Resolution.
4. Gunakan unsur kebahasaan yang tepat: past tense, time connectives (once upon a time, then, after that, finally), direct speech (minimal 1 kalimat).
5. Kamu boleh membuat tokoh, latar, dan masalah sesuai imajinasimu.
6. Sebelum menulis, isi dulu peta cerita (story map) di bawah ini sebagai perencanaan.
